When They Choose You

Disclaimer: This is just a reflective moment.

Alright, so check it!

Birth is so….sacred.

So when someone hires YOU, regardless of the capacity in which you serve, it’s special.

It’s beautiful.

That’s one thing.

But in the thick of labor discomfort, with their partner and other close family and/or friends surrounding them, needing to find refuge in the arms, the hand, the eyes of somebody, anybody and they choose YOU…..

That’s a totally different thing.

They could literally choose anyone else to give them what they need in that moment but when they CHOOSE you, when they shoo everyone away and ASK for you, when your eyes, hands, arms, your voice are what they turn to for comfort…

It’s when you know your work is not in vain.

It’s when you know that you’re doing it right.

Now, let me be clear: I’ve experienced this several times but as of late, I’ve been able to truly tune into the birthing atmosphere and observe.

I’m usually laser focused on the birthing person and I don’t get to truly take it all in.

I’m grateful for being chosen. In any capacity, in every moment, in every situation.

I’m chosen for this. (We’ll dive into this later.)

When they choose you it makes your heart smile, your soul gets full and you get a boost of energy.

At least it happens that way for me.
