Full Disclosure
It’s been a while but I think I can keep this brief.
In this work there are enough pivots and twists and turns and no matter how much you try to avoid the surprises, they still arise.
The surprises aren’t usually even the issue but the fact that they exist is the issue.
This particular situation was full of twists and turns that I was not ready for but I think I handled it pretty well.
While I can’t adequately describe or explain the whole of the situation without laying it all bare, I will say that full disclosure is necessary.
During the process of “dating” your doula/midwife/OB/NP you should be as transparent as possible about anything that may effect your pregnancy or your response to or coping methods with labor, birth and the postpartum period.
Though some may handle it well and take it in stride, others may not be equipped to handle what’s being tossed at them.
Keep in mind that you’re building a relationship.
These people are going to be in your space during one of the most intimate times of your life.
“Date” your support team openly and honestly and you’ll reap the full benefits of all they have to offer.
Luh yaw!
