It's Not Going To Be Completely Comfortable But It'll Be Worth It

I’m not sure why this hit my spirit but I’m glad it did.

I see A LOT of births and I do mean A LOT!

One of the most common conversations I have with new parents is that they’re going to have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Part of that comes with reframing their thoughts about and actions during pregnancy, labor and birth.

Instead of pain, it’s discomfort.

Instead of yelling, low, deep groans (unless you just need to yell).

Instead of contractions, they are waves or surges.

Most people have the desire to reframe but actually doing it doesn’t come naturally.

It takes time, effort and energy. The three things that pregnant people never seem to have simultaneously.

I’m not oblivious to the fact that it’s all hard work and it’s uncomfortable as hell but great things come from doing uncomfortable shit.

I always see folks handle surges and overall labor discomfort like a G but when that baby starts to crown it’s the most uncomfortable part of the process.

That’s when folks want to give up.

But the only way out is through at that point.

Is the pain indescribable? Absolutely!

But those few moments of having a head dangling between your thighs followed by a body are temporary.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and doing hard things to get to the beauty of it all.

It’ll all be worth it.
